The Old Telegraph Station

The historical Telegraph Station is situated 12km north of town. Interpretive plaques tell the story of this epic in Territory history. Also situated at the Telegraph Station are several graves of early pioneers.

Tuxworth-Fullwood Museum

This National Trust Museum was built by the army in 1942 as the army camp hospital. Today it houses the old jailhouse, a miner's camp & mine workings, old Furphy water cart, the town's archive collection & photographs of the town and its people. Some of the region's early pioneers are still resident in the town today.

Warrego Fossicking

The Warrego Fossicking area lies west of Tennant Creek. Several old mine workings lie on the way to the former mining township of Warrego where the fossicking area is found. Permits are required though there is no charge.

Devils Marbles - Karlu Karlu

Located 106km south of Tennant Creek, this fantastic collection of gigantic rounded granite boulders is said in Aboriginal mythology to be the eggs of the Rainbow Serpent. Flocks of zebra and painted finches as well as many of other birds frequent the area taking advantage of the pooling dew water and shade provided by these majestic stones.

Battery Hill Regional Tourist Centre

Detailed brochures on both Tennant Creek and other Territory attractions. Tours at the site, of a working 10 Stamp Gold Battery and an underground mine. Interesting museum and mineral collection, and a great place to sit, enjoy the breeze, a cup of coffee, and the view of the town and surrounding countryside. Occasionally there are wonderful visiting exhibitions of art and craft.

The Pebbles

An area of natural beauty and unusual rock formations 15 kms north of Tennant Creek.
